Under step 4 of the government’s road map, many COVID restrictions have been lifted.

Shropshire Archives will be return to normal weekly opening hours:

  • Wednesday 10am-4pm
  • Thursday 10am-4pm
  • Friday 10am-4pm

We recognise that it may take some time for visitors to adjust to the new arrangements made possible, and that some visitors may be taking their first steps back into the archives and other public spaces. So we:

  • recommend that all visitors continue to wear face coverings while visiting the archives, as a courtesy to other visitors and our staff and in line with government guidance.
  • encourage all visitors to be considerate and maintain a reasonable distance from each other while in our building.

We will also keep windows open for maximum ventilation and retain the perspex screens. We clean surfaces daily and will provide hand sanitiser and wipes for your use (hand washing recommended if you are handling original documents).

At the moment we are keeping advance booking only if you want to consult archive material. Book here.

Fiche/film readers and PCs are also available by advance booking only , although you will now be able to drop into the Reading Room without booking to browse books and recent maps. Book here.
