Investigating stories of witchcraft and magic

Thank you to Dr Simon White, Oxford Brookes’ Reader in Romantic and nineteenth-century literature, Dr Simon White, for the introduction into the innovative Historypin Special Collection Mapping Magic on Saturday 15th July 2017.

Mapping Magic covers the whole of Great Britain, including Shropshire, through an interactive map. It allows anyone to go online and ‘pin’ a snippet of text, historical photo, video, audio recording or personal recollection to the interactive map.

The event demonstrated how you can join in with the project, as well as showcasing fascinating items relating to witchcraft and magic from the collections at Shropshire Archives.

A small display of items relating to magic and witchcraft remains on display at Shropshire Archives over the summer.
