General help page

This page draws together the various guidance that we have on our website. If you still have a query, then please email and we’ll do our best to help.

Using our website

You can use the search box on the website to find specific archives and books on our online catalogue. In some cases you might be able to view a small image. You can order copies of other items or request to view them in our Search Room. Please note that not everything is fully catalogued or online. We advise registering with us to make full use of the site, for example to compile wish-lists, order copies and book to visit us.

How do I plan my visit?

Volunteers from the Shrophsire Family History Society have a help-desk between 10am and 1pm each day that we are open. So if you are beginning to trace your family history or want a bit of extra help using Shropshire Archives, it’s worth visiting in the morning.

Requesting research

If you aren’t able to visit in person, then we offer different levels of research to suit your needs.
