Microfiche/film and computers

We are opening in a phased way with restrictions to help stop the spread of COVID-19. Please book at least 48 hours in advance.

At this time, you will need to register with Shropshire Archives and also put coats/bags in a locker while onsite. There’s more guidance at Plan Your Visit.

Microfiche/film reader

Booking times: 1 fiche/film reader available 10:30am-1pm.

For checking: local newspapers, Ordnance Survey maps, parish registers (post 1900), cemetery records.

Computers

Booking times: PC 1 10.45am-1.15p; PC 2 11am-1.30pm.

For checking: catalogues and archive sources online including Shropshire parish registers up to 1900. We have free onsite access to FindMyPast, Ancestry and the British Newspaper Archive.

As we have limited PCs due to social distancing these are just for archive research and local/family history. For general use, please book a PC at your local library.

We also have free WiFi.

Printing

We have a A4 printer shared between these machines. Please wipe down after you use this.

You can purchase a card for prints.
