Shropshire Archives reopens in a phased way from Wednesday 29 July

Onsite copying facilities

Photocopying

Some printed books, maps and documents can be photocopied by staff for you. This is subject to copyright restrictions and also the condition, age, size and colouring of the item, as we don’t want to risk damaging originals.

During our phased re-opening we will not be able to produce photocopies on demand for you.

Photography

You can order high resolution digital images or prints from our in-house photographer as part of our image services.

Please allow up to 10 working days for your order.

Your own photography

You can photograph original documents, within copyright guidelines and where this does not cause undue risk to the document. Please download our photography in the search room document for more information.

There’s a charge for a photography permit (day or year) and the money helps with the long-term preservation of Shropshire’s unique collections.  This is reduced during our phased re-opening.

In many cases, it may be difficult for you to photograph successfully. Our image services department has specialist equipment, and can produce high-quality images in a range of formats.

Professional researchers

If you’re doing research on behalf of another person, please complete the record agents photocopying order form or record agents annual photo permit or record agents daily photo permit form.
